


Muddy Beginnings - Thursday class
This course starts September 18th and runs for 8 weeks

Muddy Beginnings: Intro to a lot of things clay
Perfect for: First-time potters, creative explorers, and anyone curious about working with clay.
This series covers “a lot of things clay” to introduce you to a wide range of ways to play with clay. We will learn some wheel skills and also dive into clay selection, tool use & selection, kiln firing basics, slab and coil construction. We will discuss and learn practical skills around shaping clay, rules to follow & rules to break. We will explore a variety of surface decorations, oxide & mason stain use, slip decoration, slip trailing, altering forms & trimming both for function & design.
At the end we get to experiment with a few glaze techniques as well as finish off with our final class that allows us to reveal our work & gain feedback in our group. This helps us learn from what we did “pot” luck style.

Clay, tools, and firing/glazing services
Demonstrations and hands-on instruction by Melanie Tuck - Instagram Hummingbird_Pottery
One-on-one guidance in a small class setting - 8 participants max
Additional access during designated times as scheduled - TBD
Fob access ($20 deposit, refundable upon return)
