Ready to level up your throwing skills? This focused two-day workshop is designed for intermediate potters who want to explore larger forms and sectional construction on the wheel.
Over two intensive 3-hour sessions, participants will learn how to throw and assemble a two-part vase using 6–10 lbs of clay in total. Day one focuses on centering, throwing larger forms, and creating the individual sections. On day two, we’ll refine, alter, and transform the assembled piece through shaping and surface manipulation techniques that add movement, character, and individuality to the final form.
This class is ideal for potters looking to push scale, improve consistency with heavier clay, and experiment with altered forms.

Skill Level
Participants must already be comfortable centering and throwing 3–4 lbs of clay proficiently. This is not a beginner class.

Expand your wheel throwing skills in this hands-on two-day workshop focused on creating beautiful lidded jars. Designed for intermediate potters, this class explores form, function, and finishing techniques while working with larger amounts of clay (3-6 lbs).
During two 3-hour sessions, participants will create 2–3 lidded jars ranging from 3–6 lbs each. On day one, we’ll focus on throwing the jar forms and matching lids, with an emphasis on proportion, fit, and gallery construction. Day two will be dedicated to trimming, refining, adding knobs and handles, and exploring surface alterations to give each piece a unique finished character.
This workshop is perfect for potters wanting to improve precision, lid fitting, and larger form throwing techniques.

Throwing 1 part larger vessel forms on the wheel

Techniques for trimming and refining forms
